METRIX SEISMIC SENSORS

SA6200A API 670 Accelerometer

General purpose accelerometer that meets API 670 requirements. Designed for use on a wide variety of machine types with its broad frequency response of 0.5 to 10 kHz (+/- 3dB), 50g range, and mounted resonance of 13 kHz. A built-in amplifier provides an industry-standard 100mV/g low-impedance, constant-current output that is compatible with vibration monitoring systems, electronic switches, and 4-20mA signal conditioners. The sensor consists of a temperature-stabilized piezo-electric core and an amplifier, packaged together in a 316 stainless steel case that is electrically isolated from the sensing circuit. A choice of mounting studs is available. Consult the product datasheet for available hazardous area approvals.

SA6200UW Underwater Accelerometer

The Metrix SA6200UW Underwater Accelerometer is designed for applications that are continuously or frequently exposed to very high levels of condensing humidity, such as cooling tower structures.  It features a molded integral cable and an IP68 rating, suitable for continuous submersion.

A built-in amplifier provides a 100mV/g low-impedance, constant-current output that is compatible with vibration monitoring systems, electronic switches, and 4-20mA signal conditioners.

The sensor consists of a temperature-stabilized piezo-electric core and an amplifier, packaged together in a stainless steel case that is electrically isolated from the sensing circuit. A choice of mounting studs is available.  Consult the product datasheet for available hazardous area approvals.

SA6350 High-Temperature Accelerometers

The Metrix SA6350 High-Temperature Accelerometer is suitable for use in temperatures up to 325C.  It is designed for gas turbines and other machinery with high surface temperatures where an acceleration* signal is desired.

The sensor’s design separates the charge amplifier/line driver from the piezo-electric sensing element, using an armored, integral cable.  This allows the sensing element to be mounted directly on the machine, but the charge amplifier to be mounted either 3m or 5m away, in a lower-temperature environment.  The charge amplifier is rated up to 120C; its mounting location will often expose it to moderately elevated temperatures, but these will normally be well below the surface temperatures encountered at the sensing element location, such as a gas turbine casing.  The charge amplifier can then be connected to standard field wiring via its 2-pin MIL-style connector or optional integral shielded cable.

SA6210 Low-Profile Accelerometer

The Metrix SA6210 Low-Profile Accelerometer uses a side-exit cable connection that allows it to be used in physically constrained locations where a top-exit cable design will not fit.  The SA6210 offers performance characteristics similar to our SA6200A, but with a slightly wider frequency response and a higher mounted resonant frequency.

The Metrix SA6200 Accelerometer is capable of sensing a wide range of vibration frequencies, which makes it ideal for use on a variety of machines.

5485C High Temperature Velocity Sensor

The Metrix 5485C High-Temperature Velocity Sensor is suitable for use in temperatures up to 375°C.  It is designed for gas turbines and other machinery with high surface temperatures where a velocity signal is desired.  The Metrix 5485C is standard equipment on most GE heavy-duty industrial gas turbines including the Frame 3, Frame 5, Frame 6, Frame 7, and Frame 9.

The sensor’s moving-coil design requires no external power as it self-generates a signal proportional to vibration velocity.  It can be ordered with armored cable in lengths up to 100 feet (removable cable p/n 4850) or 60 feet (integral cable). 

The sensor provides a 15 Hz to 2 kHz frequency response, and can be ordered with a variety of industry-standard outputs including 105, 145, 150, and 200 mV/in/sec.  The 4-hole flat base mounting style is compatible with the standard mounting pattern on many industrial gas turbines; an adapter (p/n 8531) is also available for stud-mount rather than flat base mount installations.

SV6300 Piezo-Velocity Sensor

The Metrix SV6300 Piezo-Velocity Sensor is similar to our SA6200A accelerometer, but provides a velocity rather than acceleration output.  The solid-state design has no moving parts to wear out and may be mounted in any axis, unlike many moving-coil devices.  It is also less sensitive to the cross-axis vibration that can be especially damaging to moving-coil devices.

A built-in amplifier provides a 100mV/in/sec, low-impedance, constant-current output that is compatible with vibration monitoring systems, electronic switches, and 4-20mA signal conditioners.

The sensor consists of a temperature-stabilized piezo-electric core, amplifier, and integrator, packaged together in a stainless steel case that is electrically isolated from the sensing circuit. A choice of mounting studs is available.  Consult the product documentation for available hazardous area approvals.
