Thermocouples Thermocouples operate on the principle of the Seebeck effect, which states that when two dissimilar metals are joined at two junctions and the temperature is different at each junction, then a current will flow through the metals (known as EMF). SOR can provide a replacement for any failed thermocouple, RTD, or temperature assembly. RTD's All RTDs are 100% tested to ensure that the functionality of the product has not been affected by the manufacturing process. The standard sheath material on all RTDs specified in this section is 316SS. Other sheath materials and coatings are available. Elements are either thin film or wire wound, depending on the style RTD selected. Thin film elements are used in all constructions unless otherwise specified. Each RTD is supplied with a heavy duty spring. Thermowells SSi basic thermowell types are threaded, flanged, socket weld, weld-in, sanitary, and Van Stone. Thermowell stem designs (a portion of the well that extends into the process) are available in straight, stepped, or tapered styles. A wide selection of materials is available to meet virtually any application–including Brass, 304SS, 316SS, Alloy 600, Hastelloy B &C, Monel, HR160, Alumina, HR160, and many others. Sensor Assemblies SOR temperature sensor assemblies may include a connection head, optional HART transmitters, a sensor, and an optional thermowell or protection tube. Assemblies have been designed for high vibration, high temperature and general purpose applications. Sample Probes SSi sample probes are used in applications where a representative sample needs to be extracted from a process. Using a sample probe with a valve in a nozzle allows for simple and controlled extraction. Manufactured in Houston, the heart of the industrial Gulf Coast in Texas, SSi sample probes are built of high-quality materials so they stand up to the materials being sampled.
